- Explain the importance of understanding grammar for effective communication.
**Direct Instruction (15 minutes)**
1. **Explanation of Parts of Speech:**
- Use the whiteboard to write down the eight basic parts of speech: nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, and interjections.
- Provide a simple, clear definition for each part of speech.
- Give at least two examples of each. (e.g., Noun: cat, table; Verb: run, think)
2. **Interactive Activity:**
- Show flashcards with words on them; ask students to identify which part of speech each word belongs to.
- Discuss the answers briefly, ensuring understanding.
**Guided Practice (10 minutes)**
1. **Sentence Analysis:**
- Provide a short reading passage (3-4 sentences at most) displayed on the board or through the projector.
- Read the passage together.
- Identify and label the parts of speech in each sentence as a class activity. Get students to contribute by raising their hands to identify different parts of speech.
